the Author, Mary Byers
In addition to authoring The Mother Load: How to Meet Your Own Needs While Caring for Your Family, Mary Byers is a columnist for two professional trade journals, has been a freelance writer for 19 years and currently serves as the managing editor for two professional periodicals. She has been published in a variety of publications, including Christian Single, Aspects, Advertising Age, Entrepreneur, Association Management, Professional Speaker, and the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel.
Mary is a member of the National Speakers Association and has been speaking professionally since 1988. She’s presented in more than 25 different states and is a frequent speaker at women’s events.
Mary is a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Telecommunications and is a Certified Association Executive. Prior to pursuing her writing full-time, she was a director of advertising and a senior level association manager.
Mary was named Sangamon County Big Sister of the Year in 1992. The Illinois Society of Association Executives recognized her with its Association Excellence Award in 1996 and the President’s Award in 1997. She has also received numerous other awards for publishing and promotion. Most importantly, Mary is mother to two young children.
